It’s almost that time of the year again: summertime! Universities and colleges in and around Miami are nearly the end of the semester and it’s time to start thinking about summer storage.
When it comes to time spent at school, you will accumulate new additions to your wardrobe. You may even find that you have taken in quite the surplus of new garments, seeing as you have been pretty much living at college for a whole year, and needed new clothes to match the weather. With this being so, going home with a truckload of laundry, though helpful in the cleaning department, may get in the way of comfortable living. To help counteract this, you may want to consider storing these items and taking only what you thank you may leave. But before you ball up these items and throw them into a storage unit, there are some steps you may want to take to make sure when next this unit is opened you are not dealing with a travesty.
Wash Your Clothes
You want to make sure the clothes are washed before they are made ready for storing. These clothes will not only stay fresher in storage but will also reduce stains building up on your things. Dirty clothes may also have odors permeating off of them that will attract bugs and vermin.
Use Plastic Containers
Though vacuum seal seems to be the go-to way of storing clothes, know that this method is only for short-term saving use. A better alternative is to save your clothes in plastic containers, preferably with clip-on lids. These containers are great for protecting their contents from any possible exterior threats. These plastic containers also make it easier all around for storing your clothes, as most of them are designed to interlock and stack on top of one another.
Cedar Balls Will Offer More Protection
Cedar balls are utilized in driving off moths and protects your clothes from mildew and musty odor. Be sure to include a few cedar balls in each of your clothing containers. Be sure to use wooden cedar balls, as they last longer than other chemical treatments, and they leave a lovely aroma.
Use air conditioned Self Storage
A professional, climate controlled unit offers the best when it comes to storing your clothes. Make sure to find a storage facility that provides climate control units that are appropriately monitored, and that the groups are clean and vermin free. Make sure you have had a chance not only to see the location yourself but also check out past testimonials for those who have already used this facility.
