College Move In Day: A Survival Guide

College Move in Day is one of the best and most important days of many people’s lives. It’s the day where they can officially start being on their own as well as continuing their education.

For Students, it is a great step forward unto their careers and education.

For Parents, it’s saying goodbye to your child and hello to the adult that you’ve raised them to be.

For The Parents

Bring a Door Stop – Parents are always prepared, and one of the biggest tips you’ll ever see is to bring a door stop. Bring one so that it’s easier to move things in.

Bring some Kleenex – You’re going to cry, so make sure to come adequately prepared. While you’re at it, make sure to bring plenty because your kids will soon start buying the cheap versions and it’s a great way to remind them of good quality products.

Bring Some Goodies – If you can be discreet, college kids love having home cooked or homemade goodies. If you can sneakily make some cookies or a traditional dish that they love, it will really help them adjust.

For The Kids

When the end of the semester comes up, you’ll need to either switch dorms or move your belongings to a nearby student storage unit until the next semester starts, this lets you stay focused on partying studying.

Build Up – Dorms are small, and the best way to economize your space is to build up instead of expanding out. While you may have anywhere from an 8x8 to a 14x14 most ceilings will always go from 10 to 14 feet which give you a ton of extra space!

Immediately find someone to Make Nice With – There are dozens of people within less than 100 yards from you at any given time. My best advice is this, wear a t-shirt of a popular band or tv show you like. It’s a great way to start conversations.

Xtra Storage

Always remember that since we’ve got you covered on local storage for your college, that moving out is the easy part. Moving in is the hardest, take the time to cherish the moments while they last.
